Traveling can be an exciting adventure, but getting a good night’s sleep in a hotel room often comes with challenges, especially if you are a person who is easily annoyed by noise. Oh! Also– the one thing I absolutely require in a white noise machine is that it is non-looping. If you’re sound-sensitive at all, you’ll need a non-looping machine, because (and, I’m not even going to bother trying to over-explain this, because if you know you know), once your brain hears the “click” of the looped track starting over, it will start listening for that and the white noise will be useless. Same with white noise apps. That is why some sound-sensitive (or noise-phobic) people can only use a fan. And yes, I know that these units are on the pricier side, but trust me– you can try to cheap out on white noise, but once you hear that “click,” the $18 machine will be useless to you. Alot of companies are putting an actual fan inside the machine to solve this problem, which is a great idea.

The Yogasleep Dohm UNO White Noise Sound Machine is the best deal on this list, and of course I had to include a Dohm unit because they are the most famous names in white noise and sound machines and everyone seems to love them. 🙂 This one is a little light in features (meaning it doesn’t have a zillion settings or play music), but the white noise it makes is loud enough and high quality, and it has a real fan in it for the consistent sound.
